ANSWERS

What is a Full Access subscription and what are the benefits?

Beginning September 10, we will implement a new subscription model. Subscribers will have access to all of our content. That means you will be able to access our content where and how you want it - through all platforms, including Web, mobile, smart phone, tablet and delivery of the print edition on the days you select.

The content accessed through the Web, mobile, and tablet will be frequently updated and will provide coverage of breaking news and events through articles and photos as well as provide content that cannot be included in print, such as databases, streaming video, blogs and chats. The subscription pricing is aligned with content value. If you choose not to subscribe, digital access will be limited to a small number of articles a month.

We believe the new subscription options and prices more appropriately reflect the value of our content. [Back to top]

Why has my billing cycle been changed to a monthly cycle?

Printed bill cycles are being changed to monthly cycles as part of the new subscription model. We have found that subscribers prefer to be billed monthly similar to other services such as telephones and cable subscriptions. We also encourage printed bill subscribers to change to EZ Pay billing. EZ Pay prices have been discounted and are like getting one month free when compared to printed bill prices over the course of a year. Subscribers may change to EZ Pay billing by calling (800)332-6733 800-332-6733.

I get home delivery of the print edition. How do I activate my account and access content online and through digital devices?

You'll need to activate your subscription in order to have full access to our content through azcentral.com and our new digital platforms, mobile site, iPhone/Android/iPad apps, tablet site, tablet app and the e-Newspaper. Digital set-up is easy, and you only have to activate your subscription once from a desktop PC or Mac. If you need help, call (800)332-6733 800-332-6733.

Is there any way to access content on azcentral.com if I'm not a subscriber?

Non-subscribers will have access to limited portions of our content on the desktop. The digital platforms will be metered, meaning a non-subscriber will be able to access limited articles (including blog posts, slide shows, videos and other multimedia features) each calendar month on azcentral.com. Home page, section fronts and classified verticals (i.e., cars.com) will remain accessible to anyone, even without a subscription. We will continue to sell single copy print editions of the newspaper at retail outlets.

As a non-subscriber, why can I only access 20 articles each month?

Azcentral.com charges for access so we can continue to invest in the quality journalism you know and love. We've set the limit so occasional readers won't encounter it. But if you're a regular reader, we hope you'll consider subscribing. You'll get full access to our content on the desktop, including articles, blog posts, video, slide shows and other multimedia features - on the Web site, on the mobile site, and on our smartphone and tablet apps, plus the digital replica of The Arizona Republic print edition.

We will have a meter, or threshold, of articles that users can view within a 30-day timeframe before being required to subscribe. We believe this model will give our most dedicated, loyal readers the opportunity to invest in the unique local content our professional journalists create while simultaneously providing a community service to a subset of our readers that visit occasionally. How are Full Access, digital only subscriptions billed?

Full Access, digital only subscriptions are charged monthly and are required to be on EZ Pay (automatic payment plan). Subscribers can manage their account as part of the subscription including updates to billing information, credit card information and option to add print delivery to their subscription.

How do I share access to my Full Access, digital only subscription?

Subscribers can share access with a friend or family member for each subscription they purchase through their 'Account Profile' link at the top right of any page (once they are logged in).

The subscriber should click on the 'Share Access' link. If the subscriber has multiple subscriptions, they can share each with a different individual if they choose to do so.

The subscriber should complete the form and click "Send Invite". An email is sent and includes a link to accept the invitation and access the site.

Can I get access on my smartphone or tablet? What devices are supported?

The mobile and tablet model is different than desktop. After an initial sample period, mobile and tablet users will have unlimited access to section fronts and classified sites, and will have access to limited article content before being prompted to log in or subscribe. This applies to our tablet browser experience, mobile sites, and native apps for the iPhone, iPad, and Android.

Users will be able to link directly to 3rd party sites from our mobile and tablet products whether or not they are a full access subscriber. This includes cars.com, careerbuilder.com, homefinder.com, legacy.com (obituaries), and apartments.com.

Currently we have approximately, 25 million tablet and mobile page views per month. Approximately 60% come from the native apps (applications downloaded from the app store on your mobile phone or tablet) while the rest come from people accessing the site using a browser on their phone or tablet.

I have a subscription to The Arizona Republic on my Kindle. Does this give me access to azcentral.com?

No, at this time we are not able to connect other e-reader subscriptions to an azcentral.com subscription.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

You can cancel by calling 800-332-6733 (800)332-6733 at any time. If your Full Access subscription includes home delivery of the print edition, any balance exceeding $2.00 will be fully refunded. If you have a full access, digital only subscription, it will be cancelled at the end of the month. Your account will not be charged further.

Can I get a subscription to the azcentral.com Web site only?

The full access, digital only subscription gives you ongoing access to azcentral.com on any computer or device, azcentral.com apps for iPhone and Android smartphones, as well as iPad and other tablets, and the digital replica of The Arizona Republic print edition.

I purchase single copies of The Arizona Republic. Am I eligible to access your other news and information content?

If you purchase single copies of the newspaper at a newsstand or other retailer, you will need to purchase a full access, digital only subscription separately in order to enjoy access to our digital platforms.

I'm not currently a subscriber. What kind of content counts toward my monthly limit? Do I get access to anything?

Visitors to azcentral.com on their desktop computer can always browse the home page, as well as all section fronts and classified verticals (i.e. cars.com). Articles, blog posts, slide shows, video and other multimedia features will all count toward the monthly limit of 20 articles. Note that the monthly limit is based on items, not page views: a multi-page article or slide show counts as one item (or one "article view"). Additionally, reader contributions (comments) do not count toward your monthly limit.

Upon reaching your monthly reading limit, you'll be asked to subscribe. Your subscription helps us continue to invest in the quality journalism you know and love. But if you don't subscribe, your limited access will be reset at the beginning of the next month, and you'll once again be able to enjoy 20 articles per month.

How do I download the apps that are included with my subscription?

To download and access azcentral.com smartphone and tablet apps, go to mobile.azcentral.com on your desktop computer for full instructions. Some apps require a separate download onto your phone, while others can be accessed directly on your mobile phone's browser.

If I go back and read an article I've already read, will that count toward my monthly limit?

No. If you view an article you have already read in the current month, it will not count again toward your monthly limit.

I accessed an article through a social media site and received a message saying I'd reached my monthly limit. What happened?

You may have seen an alert that informs you when you are approaching your monthly limit instead of the message that appears when you have already reached the limit. This message (below left) is a way to help you keep track of the number of articles you have left on the meter. You can dismiss it and continue reading. A message similar to the one on the right indicates you have reached your monthly limit of 20 articles and need to subscribe for unlimited access.

How can I keep track of how many articles I have read each month?

A sliding yellow bar will display how many articles you have left on the meter. When you get to your limit of metered content, a subscribe option will be displayed.

Do comments count toward my monthly limit?

No. User-generated content does not count toward your monthly limit. This includes comments on articles and blog posts.

When you first read a blog post, it will count toward your monthly limit. But if you comment on the post or refresh the page to see other readers' comments, it will not count again.

When you click the Comments link on an article page to view the associated readers' comments page, the new page will not count toward your monthly limit.

Can I access my subscription on more than one computer, smartphone or tablet?

Yes, you can access azcentral.com on any browser, on any device. If you have more than one smartphone, you will be able to access the azcentral.com apps on all your smartphones. [Back to top]

When I go on vacation, can I put my subscription on hold?

While on vacation, or in the event of a missed delivery, subscribers will be able to continue accessing the content, including viewing a digital replica of the print edition. Subscribers with a Full Access subscription including delivery of the print edition, will be credited a portion of the subscription fee which relates to the delivery expense for the print edition; or subscribers may choose to donate this credit to The Arizona Republic's Media In Education (MIE) program.
