These stories would have made '12 much better year

There will be lots of talk over the next few days about the stories that defined 2012: The good, the bad and the hideous stuff that happened all around us.

Me? I'm more focused on the stories that didn't happen this year. The ones we didn't read but sure wish we had.

Here are a few of the headlines I wish I'd seen in 2012:

Holy Fiesta Bowl! State lawmakers ban freebies and junkets

Gravy train derails as end appears near for lobbyist largesse and daily free-lunch program on Capitol lawn, brought to our leaders by just about every special interest in state
