Scottsdale mayor’s home robbed By Beth Duckett and Laurie Merrill The Republic | azcentral.com Mon Nov 5, 2012 6:29 PM Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane’s home was burglarized on Friday after someone broke in through the master bedroom and stole more than $10,000 worth of jewelry, a police report says. Lane's chief of staff, J.P. Twist, said Lane preferred to keep the matter private and had no comment. The incident occurred between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday at Lane’s home near Cactus and Hayden roads, according to the Scottsdale police report, which is partially redacted to withhold the victim’s name. Ten pieces of jewelry valued at $10,100, including a $7,000 gold wedding ring with sapphires and diamonds, were stolen, the report said. In addition, a wicker basket containing spare keys to two vehicles and older credit cards were missing. A pillow case was stolen from the bed, possibly to carry the stolen merchandise, the report says. A glass sliding door in the master bedroom was shattered and is believed to be the point of entry, police said. One of the neighbors noticed a white moving style truck nearby just before 11 a.m. Another reported passing a small four-door red colored passenger car between 12:45 and 1 p.m. that was parked nearby, police said. Police said they had no immediate leads or suspects. |
