Social Security a big lie

Our government masters like to lie to us and tell us that we have earned our social security benefits.

But as David Ruby says in this letter, that is a big lie. The courts have ruled a number of times that Social Security is a TAX and we are entitled to NOTHING for the taxes we have paid towards Social Security.

Social Security a big lie

In response to the letter Tuesday, "Misuse of entitlement," the author states that she and her husband earned their Social Security and Medicare.

I will agree that Medicare is a right (entitlement), but Social Security is not. She believes that she invested in Social Security, but in reality, she was taxed to pay for current retirees and the surplus used to pay federal debt. It is not at all like an IRA or a 401(k), which are voluntary.

In Section 1104 of the act creating Social Security in 1935, there is the Reservation of Power Clause. It states, "The right to alter, amend or repeal any provision of this act is hereby reserved to the Congress."

Further, in 1960, this was challenged in the U.S. Supreme Court in Flemming vs. Nestor. The decision established that Social Security benefits are not a contractual right.

To sum up, your FICA taxes are mandatory, not an investment, and according to Congress and the Supreme Court, you have no contractual right (entitlement) to benefits. You were misled or lied to.
