I would love to have as many 100°F+ days as possible and delay our nasty winter from coming until at least the middle of October.

According to the Republic the record highs for October have been 100°F+ until October 23.

From October 24 to the 31, the record highs have been between 94 and 98°F.

On the bad side the record lows in October can get a bit cold. From October 1 to the 20 the record lows are all in the 40°F range. From October 21 to 31 the record low is a freezing cold 34°F. Brrrr.

Phoenix high temperatures to be in 100s most of week

The beginning of October is expected to bring hot temperatures this week.

The National Weather Service said Monday temperatures are expected to reach 104, which is 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Temperatures are expected to hold around the 100-degree mark, then fall back into the 90-degree range Friday and into the weekend.

Of course a lot of people in LA don't have air conditioning units, and those folks in LA don't even know what swamp coolers are, so they don't handle warm weather like we do in Phoenix.

Record-breaking, triple-digit temperatures to hit Southland today

It may be the first day of October, but scorching, record-breaking temperatures Monday will remind Southern Californians that summer isn't over yet.

"It's going to be a hot day," said David Sweet, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.

Triple-digit temperatures were expected for much of the Southland, about 20 degrees hotter than what is normal for this time of year, Sweet said.

The warmest weather will be in the valleys, with a high of 108 degrees predicted for Woodland Hills and 105 degrees in Burbank and Pasadena, Sweet said.

Downtown Los Angeles is expected to hit 100 degrees, tying a daily record set in 2008.

Red-flag warnings are in effect through Tuesday evening for Los Angeles County and Ventura County mountains and the Santa Clarita Valley, Sweet said, as weather officials worry gusty winds, hot temperatures and low humidity could spark fires.

Forecasters expect temperatures to cool Tuesday, falling about five degrees.

"When you're dropping from 105 to 100, it's still going to feel hot," Sweet said.

One good question is why wasn't Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson allowed in the debate.

I suspect our tax dollars were used to put on the debate and if that is true it was wrong to exclude Libertarian Gary Johnson from the debate.

Tracking cooler weather and a chance of rain for the Valley

PHOENIX - What a wonderful start to your weekend as most Valley locations are in the 60s this morning.

There are a few high wispy clouds today, but mostly sunny and it's only warming to 94 degrees.

A Pacific low pressure system is sitting off the coast of Northern California. It will move into Southern California by Monday and into Arizona by Wednesday. Expect temperatures to really cool off and it will even bring a chance of rain to the Valley.

Sunday will warm into the low 90s across the Valley. This is the start of the cooler weather.

We will only see a high of 89 on Wednesday and clouds will be increasing across the area.

Thursday into Friday is when this system swings across Arizona. Temperatures cool into the low 80s on Thursday and upper 70s on Friday for the highs.

The higher elevations will see a good chance of rain Wednesday into Friday while the Valley stands a 20 percent chance of rain on Friday night.

I think "Micky Mouse" is the best qualified candidate for the office even if he isn't on the ballot.

I have never heard of "Micky Mouse" taking bribes, violating peoples constitutional rights, or sponsoring pork bills.

When I write in my vote for "Micky Mouse" the only thing that annoys me is that he doesn't win.

I would love it if all the ballots had "None of the Above" on them, and if "None of the Above" won the election the office would remain unfilled for that the next term. That would be a great way to get better government.

Last but not least most people don't know that the election system is rigged and write in votes never count, unless the "write in candidate" jumps thru all the same hoops at a "regular candidate" who is on the ballot has to jump thru. And that means the "write in candidate" must get the same number of signatures that a regular candidate" is required to get.

I put a copy of ARS 16-312 which defines all the silly rules that write in candidates must jump thru to have their write in votes be counted following the article.

For people who are running for state offices like governor as a write in candidate they would have to get as many as 5,000 signatures 40 days before the election to have their write in votes counted. And of course that silly rule pretty much makes it impossible for a write in candidate to win an election.

People who use harmless but illegal drugs frequently don't report the crimes because they are afraid of exactly what happened here. The cops will also arrest them for their use of harmless, but illegal drugs, instead of going after the criminals that robbed them.

In the few times that I have been victimized by criminals I don't waste my time calling the police because I don't want to have the cops treat me like a criminal by searching me for drugs, and running my name thru the computer looking for arrest warrants.

At the end I asked as question and tied the fact that in America, the home of the free, we have more people in prison then any other country in the world which makes us the worlds biggest police state, and that most of those people are in prison for victimless drug war crimes.

He side stepped my question and didn't really answer it.

At first I thought he was joking when he said we can't end the "war on drugs", but when I got home, or since I am homeless, the mesquite tree I sleep under, I realized he was not joking and probably really believes in the insane and unconstitutional war on drugs.

Initially when I saw the talk listed in a newspaper, I thought it would be preaching Jesus to us and asking us to convert to Christianity all on the taxpayers money.

The good news is I was wrong on that and the folks at ASU seem to be looking at religion simply as you look at any other form of superstition and discussing it in that contest.

Tempe Town Toilet is a huge boondoggle and waste of tax dollars

When Tempe Town Toilet is used to host rock concerts and the Ironman Marathon it causes nothing but traffic jams and parking problems in downtown Tempe and south Scottsdale.

The loud rock concerts in Tempe Town Toilet keep people awake at night with the loud noise as far north as Roosevelt Street in Scottsdale.

The city of Tempe spends more money to operate the Tempe Town Toilet then it spends on all the other Tempe parks combined.
